Ajay, Kajol play mentor to Amita!

She made her debut with the 2008 dud, Haal-e-Dil. But a couple of years later, Amita Pathak — daughter of producer and Ajay Devgn’s business manager Kumar Mangat — made a successful production debut with the Ajay-Konkona Sen Sharma starrer Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? And now, even as her Bittoo Boss is in theatres, she says that Ajay and his wife Kajol have been family to her.
“Ajay has always guided me on everything, be it giving me fitness and gymming tips or facing the camera. Kajol too has always been a pillar of strength as far as advice on grooming goes. She is always guiding me on how things work out (in Bollywood), and what I need to do while I am doing a film or facing the camera. But she is also very open about criticising me if I go wrong,” says Amita, whose father has been associated with Ajay for more than 20 years.
Even during Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?, Ajay played the mentor.
“My dad has been in the industry for a long time and I have learnt things from him, but when you are present on the sets as a producer, there’s a lot of responsibility. So sometimes when I didn’t know what to do, I would run to Ajay and tell him about the problem. And he would always help me out,” she says.
Ask Amita what she enjoys more, acting or production, and she says: “Acting has always been my first priority. As for production, it just my way. I never thought or planned to become a producer. Acting is something I want to do for my happiness but production is a family business since my dad and brother are into it. As of now, I am enjoying the acting bit.”
