Ek Tha Tiger smashes records on Eid

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger continues to weave magic at the box office as it amasses Rs. 20 crore on Eid. The film has broken a series of records. It is not only the biggest first day opener, it also went on to break the first weekend record.
"#EkThaTiger - India *actuals* Monday [Eid] 20.68 cr. Total:120.84 cr nett. NEW RECORD FOR MONDAY FIGURES," tweets trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
"The movie it seems is on a record breaking spree. Firstly, the highest 1st day collection, then the highest on any given day by a movie, then the fastest 100 Crore and now a record breaking Monday, Ek Tha Tiger is indeed on fire. Collections will drop on Tuesday, however the movie has more than just created history. The drop really won’t matter to Salman Khan as the coming weekend will rejuvenate the movie yet again," reports Koimoi.com.
The 100 crore feat
"#EkThaTiger - India *actuals* Sun 23.06 cr. Total: 100.16 cr nett. SUPERB. Fastest 100 cr grosser ever - 5 days [Hindi films]. NEW RECORD!" tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
"#EkThaTiger is @BeingSalmanKhan ’s 4th century [100 cr], the other three being #Dabangg [147 cr], #Ready [122 cr] and #Bodyguard [148 cr]," added Adarsh.
Ek Tha Tiger"Ek Tha Tiger reaches 100-cr mark in 5 days - another Rs. 25 cr from overseas. Total Rs. 125 cr. Today's Eid collection remains to be counted," tweeted ABP News.
The film had reached Rs. 77.10 cr mark on Saturday. "#EkThaTiger - India *actuals* Sat 16.75 cr. Total: 77.10 cr nett. Excellent growth on Saturday," Adarsh had tweeted.
First Weekend
"Ek Tha Tiger made an approx 11.75 Crores on it’s 1st Friday at the box office. After opening to a humongous 32.92 Crores and grossing 14.55 Crores on it’s 2nd Day, Ek Tha Tiger looks pretty steady with 59.22 Crores in it’s pocket," reports Koimoi.com.
"The movie might have seen a steady fall in its last two days but one can surely account that to working days not being huge grossing days. However, Ek Tha Tiger has created a new record at the Indian Box Office. In its 1st weekend (i.e. 1st 3 days run) it has grossed about 59 crores which is the highest ever in Indian history. Post Monday, when the fasting season of Ramadan gets over, there is no saying what collections will the movie make," adds the website.
2nd day collections
"After shattering every record possible to shreds Ek Tha Tiger moved to its 2nd day. As per early estimates the movie would have made 16 crores on it’s Day 2 at the Indian Box Office. Ek Tha Tiger had grossed a humongous 32.92 crores on its Day 1 and its total box office collections till date stands at 48.92 crores," reported Koimoi.com.
"The fall was quite expected as Thursday was a working day and not a holiday unlike Wednesday. However, the movie is expected to hit the chords again this weekend. There is no doubt that Ek Tha Tiger will prove to be an all time blockbuster at the box office if it sustains its momentum even for a weekend," added the website.
1st day fever
"#EkThaTiger biz on Wed is humungous, historic. But wait for Eid celebrations. It will create History *again*. Picture abhi baaki hain!" Taran Adarsh wrote.
"The 1st day box office collections of Ek Tha Tiger can be simply termed in one word as 'spectacular'. Something like this has never before happened in Bollywood. The movie made an approx. 30 crores (as per early estimates) on it's Day 1 at the Indian box office. Ek Tha Tiger did not just do good in a few circuits as there is really no circuit where the movie didn't break apart a set record," reports Koimoi.com.
"Ek Tha Tiger has smashed the opening day collections of Hrithik Roshan's Agneepath which had amassed a mammoth 23 crores. The movie also broke the much hyped Shahrukh Khan's Ra.One opening day record of 25 crores.

Shilpa Shetty to get a grand baby shower!

Bollywood beauties and star wives will turn up in full strength at actor Shilpa Shetty-Kundra’s Juhu house this afternoon. Shilpa’s sister Shamita Shetty and friend Kiran Bawa are hosting a baby shower for the actor, who is due to deliver next month. Actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Raveena Tandon, filmmakers Ekta Kapoor, Farah Khan, Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri, Sanjay Dutt’s wife Maanayata, and Suneil Shetty’s wife Mana are some of the invitees.
“It is a high tea and champagne evening. The menu includes turkey sandwiches, cheese, fruits, chicken and prawns. It will be a continental spread. We were slightly health conscious while making the menu,” says Kiran Bawa, adding, “Of course, there will be a ‘diaper cake’ too.” And, return gifts for the guests have been flown in all the way from London. All the guests will be given a hamper full of crystal items like pacifiers and key chains. There’ll also be an assortment of cupcakes and other goodies.
The theme for the party is pink and blue, with flowers and candles in those colours decorating the house. Shilpa will wear a Nandita Mahtani kaftan. While no formal invites were sent out, Shamita called all the ladies to invite them.
Shilpa’s hubby, entrepreneur Raj Kundra, says he can’t miss this party. “If they allow me in, fair enough. If they don’t, I’ll find a way in,” he said on being asked if he’d be there to celebrate with his wife.

Salman bats for Aamir’s son!

If there are two Khans who are not warring in Bollywood, they are Salman and Aamir. In fact, so thick are they that Salman, 46, made up for his good friend’s absence at a cricket match organised by the latter’s son, Junaid, in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Junaid had organised a fund-raiser Twenty20 ‘Junoon’ celebrity cricket match at the Brabourne Stadium between Bollywood stars and physically-challenged participants. But Aamir, 47, skipped the event as he had to attend to some work related to his TV show, Satyameva Jayate. “I had asked dad when he would be free for this match and he gave me May 1 as the date. But he got some work and hence could not make it here ... it’s okay,” said Junaid.
The Dabangg star, however, stepped in to support Junaid, accompanied by a whole star army. “Aamir has a show coming up ...,” said Salman, explaining Aamir’s busy schedule and seeming excited about his TV debut. Other actors present on field were Salman’s brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, Rani Mukerji, Isha Koppikhar, Prateik, Sharman Joshi and Atul Kulkarni

Aishwarya Rai's drastic weight gain sparks debate!

The shape which Aishwarya Rai is in five months after her pregnancy has generated unusual public interest with the Bachchan bahu coming in for some criticism for the "oodles of weight" gained by the actress. But some celebrites who have been associated with the 38-year-old Bollywood star including Designer Sabyasachi defended her, saying that like any other woman the new mother would definitely take some time to shed pregnancy weight.
The trigger for the reactions came following the publication of some pictures of the former Miss World while emerging out of a party hosted by eminent industrialist Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai last week. Married to Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya gave birth to her first baby, a daughter, on November 16, 2011.
The pictures set off a buzz on the internet and in the social media with articles, videos, blogs and tweets highlighting her "oodles of weight", "double chin" and calling the photos of the beauty queen "shocking".
Some social media writeups sought to suggest that the star is not taking her weight gain seriously. However, some blogs and tweets too have come out in Aishwarya's defence with comments that the focus on her post-pregnancy weight gain was pathetic.
A video compilation of her recent photos attracted comments like: "She is a Bollywood actress and being a part of showbiz it is her duty to look good and fit. Till now she has been praised for her beauty, so it is only fair that she should also be criticized if she is not able to live up to it.
She needs to learn from people like Victoria Beckham who are back to size zero weeks after their delivery! She needs to lose that weight... its been close to 5 months already!"
On the other hand, there are many who believe that five months is not enough time to shed weight and that the comments on her figure are "harsh".
Designer Sabyasachi, who made Aishwarya's costumes for Raavan, said, "Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has just delivered a baby and like any other woman she would definitely take time to put off that weight."
"She's a super celebrity and I think she is doing a commendable job by showing her real side to the media. Earlier, she was criticised for being unreal and plastic," Sabyasachi told PTI.
Aishwarya looked a lot slimmer at the press conference conducted by the Bachchans at their residence, Jalsa, immediately after the baby's arrival. But in recent photographs, Bollywood watchers say it seems as if she is heavier by five to six kilos.
Designer Rina Dhaka says that a new mother gains weight especially when she is taking care of her baby.
"It is very difficult for a woman to shed that weight. I think the media is being very harsh on her. They are deliberately printing those photos which are taken at an angle which makes her look fat or highlights her double chin," Rina said.
Designer Rocky S lashed out at the critics. "Why people are obsessed with Aishwarya's weight. This maternity weight takes time to lose. Being an internatianol celebrity she is not hiding her face, rather she is enjoying her motherhood. She should not be pressurised and she doesn't have to look perfect at this moment."
Even blogs and tweets have come out in Aishwarya's defence.
"Focus on Aishwarya's post preg weight gain pathetic. Glad she's not a celeb bimbo who's wheeled in2 plastic surgery straight frm labour room," said one Twitter user, while another wrote, "Reports in some parts of the media about Aishwarya's weight gain are vile and irresponsible. Let the woman be."
"Utterly gross & sexist commentary in sections of the media on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Makes me sick with anger at how we deconstruct women," said another tweet.

Khiladi 786 is a comedy: Nargis Fakhri

Six months after her debut Bollywood film, Rockstar (2011), Nargis Fakhri has finally signed her next film, Khiladi 786, with Akshay Kumar, produced by his banner Grazing Goat Pictures.
As part of her contract, Nargis will do three films with the banner — this one being the first. “Khiladi 786 is a comedy, and it’s a genre I’ve really been really waiting to experiment with. I’m very excited because it’s
completely different from the role I played in Rockstar. I’m doing two more films with them, but I’m not allowed to talk about those yet,” says the actor.
Nargis, who moved to Mumbai from New York a few years ago, has persisted with the diction and dance lessons she took up when she was preparing for Rockstar. The actor says, “It’s only been a short while since I’ve been in India, but a lot of things have improved. I’m on my way, and as long as I’m diligent, I know I will get better. It’s a different kind of challenge and I’m getting to learn something new.”
Between films, she’s kept herself busy with script
readings, brand endorsements and events — the latest being the launch of the Gaja Store at Nariman Point.
Ask Nargis about her constant link-ups and she gives a practised answer: “It doesn’t bother me anymore. Gossip is a part of my profession. I personally find it weird, but I understand where it is coming from. It’s the paparazzi culture all around the world.”
And how does she deal with it? She says, “Everything I’ve been reading about myself crosses the line. It’s ridiculous, boring and untrue. I’ve decided that I should just smile and wave at everyone instead of denying rumours.”
Nargis Fakhri’s imaginary affairs
Ranbir Kapoor: Ever since they were both signed for Rockstar, Ranbir and Nargis were rumoured to be dating. They were often spotted together and insisted that although they were getting along well, they weren’t a couple. The buzz fizzled out after the film’s release.
Shahid Kapoor: When Nargis flew to Goa to attend Shahid Kapoor’s lavish birthday bash, many tongues wagged. Both actors went all over town denying the rumours. Now, Shahid is being linked to Australian model Kristina Akheeva.

Amitabh Bachchan on a break, flying to LA for treatment

Amitabh Bachchan has decided to head to Los Angeles for a few tests related to his stomach ailment. The megastar reportedly took this decision after going for a CT scan recently. He would not take up any assignments till September, reports Mid Day.
Bachchan's pain reportedly resurfaced on April 9, two months after he underwent abdominal surgery at a Mumbai-based hospital. “It was the first time since the operation in February that Bachchan saab felt such severe pain and had to go for a CT scan soon afterwards,” a well-placed source told the tabloid.
Big B has also planned to take it easy for a while. “It is believed that Bachchan is not doing any film before September as he’s going to Los Angeles, in May-June, where he will undergo a few tests and the required treatment to be doubly sure,” the source was quoted by the tabloid.
Big B's projects that will have to wait
* Bachchan is said to have confirmed before September is Rohit Shetty’s forthcoming film with Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan.
* RGV has announced Sarkar 3 with Amitabh and Abhishek sans Aishwarya.
* Shoojit Sircar is scripting his next for the actor.
* Kaun Banega Crorepati 6 is also in pipeline.

First look: Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroop

The first look of Vishwaroop, an upcoming action thriller by Kamal Haasan, is out! The poster shows Kamal Haasan with a bright sky in the background. It shows symbolic elements also like a flying white bird. The poster evokes curiosity about the plot.
Vishwaroop, is a bilingual Tamil and Hindi spy thriller written, directed and co-produced by Kamal Haasan that features him in the lead. The film is disclosed to be on the lines of the Mission Impossible series.
Actor Kamal Haasan plays an army general in the film. Unlike most of the cast, he didn’t have to go through any major makeover for role. “He plays a general, so you do see injuries, but no prosthetic make-up has been applied on him,” says make-up artist Ritu Janjani.
Rahul Bose, who also stars in the film, has a negative role and had to undergo heavy prosthetic make-up.
Apparently, Bose’s character gets blown up during the war. “We had to use heavy prosthetic make-up to show his injuries after the explosion, such as a fallen jaw,” says Janjani. She adds: “Since it’s a war film, there are a lot of war victims covered in blood and gore, so we have to do lots of prosthetic hands, legs and teeth.”
The makers of the film have finished shooting the war sequence and are now filming abroad to complete the rest of it.

Honey Singh paid highest fee for song

NEW DELHI, May 2 -- Punjabi rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh is now the costliest pop artist in Bollywood. The Angreji Beat singer has charged R70 lakh for a song in a film titled Mastaan, starring Naseerudin Shah and his younger son Vivaan. It is the biggest amount paid to a song artist in Bollywood till date.
Singh has turned hot property after shooting to fame with his latest album, International Villager. Many tracks from the compilation are topping music lists such as world itunes and BBC Asian charts. The film's producer Sunil Bohra confirms that Honey Singh has been roped in with a hefty fee.
"Honey has become a household name after International Villager. I instantly fell in love with the song (that Singh composed and he plans to feature in the movie) as soon as I heard it. Though he wanted to launch that song as one of his own big hits, now, it will prove a game changer for my movie. I feel R70 lakh is less for it ... I would have signed him for more if it was required," he says.
Bohra has decided to shoot two videos of the song ... one for the movie and the other, featuring Singh, for the promotions.

Looking forward to learn from Aamir: Katrina Kaif

It’s the year of the Khans for Katrina Kaif. She’s been romancing Salman in the spy thriller, Ek Tha Tiger, and Shah Rukh in Yash Chopra’s untitled love triangle. And come July, it’ll be Dhoom Machale… with Aamir.
The excitement is evident but muted: “Salman and I have done comedies (Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, 2005, and Partner, 2007) and a romance (Yuvvraj, 2008), but we’ve never done something adventurous together so Ek Tha Tiger is a thrill. We got to shoot in some amazing countries like Ireland, Turkey, Cuba and now we have a short schedule in Bangkok, Thailand. I’ve worked with the other Khan, Kabir, before (New York, 2009) and love his style of filmmaking and vision. Salman and I were waiting for the right script and set-up to work together again and this is it!” she smiles.
Katrina’s equally upbeat about partnering with Yash Chopra — who is returning from an eight-year sabbatical — and Shah Rukh, for the first time. “Yashji is the father of romance in Hindi cinema. It’s amazing how much in sync with the times he is and how perceptive he is. I was never awkward or uncomfortable on his sets,” she exults, pointing out that playing a Yash Raj heroine is a dream come true. But don’t expect to see her in chiffon saris singing in the rain. “Even in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan which was a YRF movie, I was a rocker girl,” she says.
Prod her on her co-star, and she describes SRK as “warm and friendly”: “I admire the energy, hard work and passion he puts into his work.”
But she’s cagey about Dhoom 3: “It’s a hi-glam action movie and a hit franchise.” She dismisses rumours about having gone on a macrobiotic diet to lose 10 kilos and started an exercise regime with her trainer while in Cuba, saying, “I haven’t started prepping yet, but I will soon. I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can from Aamir.”
‘Don’t see myself as sensual’
Katrina’s latest ad with Cannes gold medal-winning director Prakash Varma for a mango drink has stirred much sexcitement on websites. The actor admits she was a nervous about the commercial for Slice because it’s different from anything she’s done before. “It’s rustic, ethnic,” she says, adding it was shot in a river-side haveli in Madhya Pradesh, with a qawwali playing in the background. “I’ve always felt beautiful in these campaigns. The look is different.” Sexy too? “I don’t see myself as sensual, maybe people reacted that way because the visuals are tangible. For me it’s all about styling, execution, the jingle and brand.”

The Avengers’ Hindi theme song goes South!

The Hollywood film, The Avengers, which has also been dubbed in Telugu and Tamil in India, will now get its own Southern theme song. UTV Motion Pictures that is marketing and distributing the film in the country, has decided to launch Telugu and Tamil versions of the film’s Hindi theme song, ‘Hello Andhero…’, which has been composed by the popular band Agnee.
Shikha Kapur, senior vice president marketing, UTV, says, “We are really excited seeing the collection and the buzz around the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions of the Hollywood movie. ‘Hello Andhero...’ as a song has worked wonders for us and there is a demand that we should release Tamil and Telugu versions of it in the Southern markets.”
Filmmaker Abbas Tyrewala who had written the Hindi lyrics of the song, may also be associated with the translations, but nothing has been finalised yet. “We are looking at how to go about this,” says Kapur.

AdChoices Aamir to finally attend an award function!

Aamir Khan has stayed away from every possible award function for over a decade. But he will attend the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards that will be presented on May 3. The annual event at Juhu’s Hotel Tulip Star will honour some of Bollywood’s biggest names. However, these awards are separate from the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Awards instituted by the Government of India.
Ashok Shekhar, son of veteran actor Chandrashekhar, who is one of the organisers of the event, insists that they have written confirmation from Aamir that he will be present at the function. “He is keen on attending and has stated that he will be there only for half an hour,” says Ashok, adding that the ceremony will start at around 6.30 pm and Aamir is expected to show up by 9 pm. The actor will unveil a wax statue of Dadasaheb Phalke, who directed India’s first full-length feature, Raja Harishchandra in 1913.
However, Aamir is categorical about not accepting any awards at the do. “We had requested him last year too, but he declined it. He made it clear to us that he is coming to the event to unveil the statue since we’re celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema,” reasons Ashok, adding that Aamir will be seated next to Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna, who are being honoured with the Phalke Ratna and Legendary Actor trophies respectively.
Aamir’s last appearance at an awards ceremony was in 2010, at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, where he received the GQ Legend Award from John Travolta. The same year, he was presented the Padma Bhushan by President Pratibha Patil and attended a gala hosted by a business publication.

SRK, Abhishek bury the hatchet!

King Khan is on a patch-up spree. After extending olive branch to Farah Khan and Juhi Chawla, Shah Rukh Khan has now decided to bury all differences with Abhishek Bachchan. If sources are to be believed, SRK and Abhishek would work together in Farah's Happy New Year after Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, reports Mumbai Mirror.
SRK and Abhishek have shared an icy vibe since the time Ash was dropped from Chalte Chalte, due to Salman's rash behaviour on the sets of the film. SRK was not invited to Abhi-Ash wedding which soured their relation further.
The actors then reportedly patched up at KJo's party.
Last year Abhishek turned up at SRK's party, wearing Mumbai Indians jersey, right after Khan's IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders got knocked out of the tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
But now, it seems the actors have decided to forget the past.

'I apologised to Malaika for kissing Arbaaz'

Her promotional peck on actor-producer Arbaaz Khan’s cheeks during a recent event in Mumbai created quite a flutter, but actor Neha Dhupia says she is clean — because she has said her sorries to Khan’s wife Malaika Arora.
“I did apologise to Malaika before it happened, and I promised her
it’ll be the first and the last time. It was all in fun and play,” says the 31-year-old. Malaika, too, says she’s cool about it. “Please yaar, I am not an insecure child. It’s an event and it was all done in good humour, so I’m cool,” she says.
Arbaaz, on his part, explains, “It was a marketing event and we followed the instructions. It was done in the open. She is an actor and I am an actor, and a giving a peck here and there is not a big deal. We do this as a profession.”
Dhupia is now hoping to create a stir with her new look in her next flick, Rush, inspired by Sharon Stone’s in Basic Instinct. “She was the closest analogy we could draw. My legs are inspired from that film,” she says.
So does she ape Stone’s infamous blink-and-miss leg-uncrossing scene too? “No. Do not come in thinking you’ll see anything that Sharon Stone showed,” she says.
Prod her if she is seeing someone, as is evident from her recent appearances with Venuzuelan James Sylvester, and she gives it away by saying, “May be. It’s just a secret!”

War at the box office!

Come June and Bollywood will be set for action. About 30 films will release in June, July and August. But at the same time, 15 big name Hollywood films will also release.
While it’s a given that Hindi films will always rule the box office, it’s also a fact that in the last 10 years, the market share of Hollywood movies in India has increased from two per cent to eight or nine per cent and is worth about Rs. 850-900 crore. Since Titanic (1997) became the first Hollywood film to have a wide release in India, other films have followed. Last year, The Adventures of Tintin released with more than 350 prints — a record for an animated film. And this year, The Avengers opened across India at around 800 screens in four languages.
And given that international studios often spend sums like Rs. 2-3 crore on publicity as against Rs. 30-50 lakh earlier, trade experts feel that overseas films can no longer be regarded as pushovers.
“Bollywood must accept the power of Hollywood films,” says film trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “Since they are dubbed in local languages too, they affect the revenues of Hindi films.”
On June 8, Shanghai will clash with Madagascar 3 and Prometheus at the box office. Later, Ferrari Ki Sawaari, Gangs of Wasseypur and Teri Meri Kahaani will release along with Benjamin Walker’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. In July, The Amazing Spiderman, featuring Irrfan as Dr Promestheus, will take on Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan. And Ice Age 4 will open on July 13 together with Cocktail and Barfi!. In August, Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum, Ek Tha Tiger, Joker, and Raaz 3 face The Bourne Legacy, Total Recall, The Expendables 2, and The Pirates! Band of Misfits."
Hindi filmmakers are not worried. “Only a big franchise is competition,” says Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures. “Films like James Bond and Harry Potter, for example, will have specific patronage in India. But every Hollywood film isn’t a matter of concern.”
Producer Goldie Behl, whose I, Me Aur Main will release on June 27, agrees. “Of course, films will be competing with each other in terms of revenues. But how big a competition will it be? Hollywood hasn’t been able to break into the mainstream.”
However, says Kercy Daruwala, managing director, Sony Pictures India, “Movies like The Hangover and The Ugly Truth were big hits. We have to accept that the audiences’ tastes are changing.”
Overseas films have picked up for various reasons, adds Daruwala. “Increasing numbers of multiplexes, additional screens and lower admission rates have contributed to Hollywood’s popularity,” he explains. And dubbing movies in local languages like Hindi, Tamil and Telugu adds to their popularity. Almost 40 per cent of a Hollywood film’s business comes from Hindi dubbed versions while around 30 per cent comes from the Tamil and Telugu versions.
Interestingly, July 20 will see the release of only The Dark Knight Rises, the final installment in the Batman trilogy, in 700 screens across the country. No Hindi film is releasing that weekend.

Vidya not allowed to work with Shahid?

Bollywood actor Vidya Balan was reportedly considered for Vettai remake opposite Shahid Kapoor. The lady, however, was ruled out by her beau Siddharth Ray Kapoor. Wonder why?
Siddharth apparently said that the role wouldn’t do justice to her talent as an actress, reports Mid Day.
A source, however, reveals to the tabloid, that Siddharth did not want Vidya to star opposite rumoured ex-flame Shahid Kapoor. Vidya and Shahid had became close during the making of Kismat Konnection.
This is not the first time Siddharth has stopped Vidya from working with a rumoured ex-beau. The Dirty Picture actor had to say no to John Abraham for the same reason.
“She didn’t want to be paired with John Abraham due to strong reports of their affair while filming Salaam-E-Ishq,” a source told the tabloid.

Vettai, a Tamil action flick was written and directed by N Linguswamy. The film stars R Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in the lead roles. The film revolves around two brothers, the elder being sensitive to violence and the younger being a jobless rogue, settled in Thoothukudi. Vettai was released worldwide on 14 January 2012.
The Hindi version of the fim is also being directed by N Linguswamy, but actor Shahid Kapur asked him to "get a good Hindi dialogue writer". Shahid joined the project on the condition that a reliable and sound Hindi dialogue writer be brought into the project. So Prasoon Joshi is likely to pen the dialogues for the movie that will go on floors in June.
Director Linguswamy told IANS, "I cannot communicate in Hindi. And the dialogues were not being translated properly. That was the main problem. Now my producer UTV is hiring a dialogue writer of their choice. That writer will be getting together with the Tamil dialogue writer of Vettai to get the essence of the dialogues. "

Emraan Hashmi gets his first U certified film

Actor Emraan Hashmi, known for his serial kisser image, has revealed that he has signed his first U certified film and gives credits to children for doing it. "There is an untitled, Universal film, it would be my first U certified film," said Emraan. "Actually, I was shooting in Jaipur three-four years back and some children told me that we watch your songs, but our parents don't allow us to see your films. So I said, one day when I get a good script, I'll definitely make a film for you all."
"Fortunately, I have got such a script. It is still in the pre-production stage and it has not been announced yet, but it is for universal audience," he added.
The 33-year-old was speaking Sunday at a promotional event for his upcoming film Jannat 2.
Emraan, who was last seen in The Dirty Picture, says that he values audience opinion more than the critics.
"There is an adulation that you get from audience. I never really give too much importance to critics or any awards. So for me, audience's acceptance is my yardstick for success," said the actor.
Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, Jannat 2 is set for a May 4 release. It also marks the debut of model Esha Gupta in Bollywood. Emraan said even after nine years in filmdom, Fridays make him jittery.
"For me as an actor, as a performer, it's a high, a positive sign for me that there is an adrenaline rush when the film releases Friday. I still wonder how the film is going to work, how will it be appreciated. This is fun, but scary too," he said.

SRK need some attention, eh?

Mumbai, April 30 -- Good morning my prawn sushis! How does your Monday look? Bad question, hain na? But I'm on holiday, toh mujhe kuch farak nahi padta. I'm simply having a blast in east India. This Vijjy, my silver-bearded beau, has it all planned for us.
Anyway, this morning, one of Vijjy's khabroos called to tell him about Shah Rukh Khan and his attention seeking act. So basically, SRK was invited by Onir join them at the success party of I Am. Like a good to friend, he agreed to go, though he arrived slightly late.
When he reached the venue, he spotted someone already giving interviews to the media and getting clicked by the paparazzi. And this, Vijjy tells me, didn't go down well with King Khan. So he decided to sit inside his car till that celeb vanished from the area, and only after that did he get out and let the media interact with him. Hey bhagwaan! Ab main kya bolu? This Shah Rukh na, he needs to grow up! How much more attention and publicity does he want? Sigh!

Rumours about Salman don't bother me: Katrina Kaif

Actor Katrina Kaif, who is teaming up with Salman Khan again in Ek Tha Tiger, says she is not bothered about the gossip that goes around regarding her and the actor.
Katrina reportedly dated Salman when she started off her career in Bollywood but later separated. And their new movie has got the rumour mills spinning again. She was last seen with the Dabangg star in 2008 movie Yuvraaj.
"When we start working for a movie we go in as professionals. I am here to do my job and if people want to highlight baseless stories then it's up to them. I don't think that these stories will have any affect on my work and the film.
"I am never bothered about such stories. Why should I? I think it's what every actor goes through. When you start working in the industry, people taking about you becomes a part of your life. Why analyse it so much?" Katrina told PTI.
The 27-year-old actor, who first starred alongside Salman in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, said she is excited to work with him again.
"I am excited about the film, it's shaping up good. Salman is working with Yash Raj for the first time and it's my second film with them. It's always fun working with Salman, he makes everything very comfortable on the sets," she said.
Katrina is also working in another Yash Raj film opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The untitled film will mark the comeback of veteran director Yash Chopra after a gap of eight years.

Shilpa Shetty to store her baby's stem cells

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who is expecting a baby, will store her child's stem cells. "Stem cell banking gives me the peace of mind for my baby's health. By banking stem cells, my child will have more medical options in the future," Shetty said in a statement. The Baazigar
actor said this is the most precious and personal gift, she and her husband Raj Kundra could think of, for their little one.
Gearing up for the most exciting phase of her life, motherhood, the 36-year-old said, "Motherhood is the best thing that can happen to a woman, it brings a sense of responsibility".
Shilpa would now also be actively involved in creating awareness among would-be parents on the importance of stem cell banking as the brand ambassador of CordLife, Asia's largest stem cell banking network.
With tremendous potential in curing critical diseases, stem cell therapy is regarded as the future of medical science.
Stem cells extracted from the cord blood have positively treated conditions like leukemia, lymphoma, cerebral palsy and thalassemia major.
"As someone who is looked upon as a role model and as a very successful woman in her own right, her decision to bank her baby's stem cells would have the right influence and impact on the would-be parents," Meghnath Roy Chowdhury, MD of CordLife said.
The actress who is now one of the co-owners of the IPL franchise cricket team Rajasthan Royals, had shot to global fame after winning the British Celebrity Big Brother TV show in 2007.

Salman Khan finally promotes Arjun Kapoor!

Salman Khan has apparently changed his mind. The actor who had refused to promote Arjun Kapoor's Ishaqzaade on Twitter has now posted a series of tweets that mentions Arjun Ranawat...oops Arjun Kapoor.
He began with, "Yup ! Arjun ranawat in my janam bhumi INDORE." (sic) Before you start wondering who Arjun Ranawat was, the actor's next tweet cleared the confusion.
"Yup! I call arjun kapoor arjun ranawat,"(sic) tweeted Sallu.
"Tweeted after a v long time," he then added.
Arjun apparently had no inclination towards becoming an actor, but Salman’s confidence and motivation urged him to take that route.
“Salman is my elder brother. Once, long back, he had told me that he thought I was cut out for acting, and should try my hand in it. That time, I was really obese (140 kg), and couldn’t imagine myself as an actor. Salman literally took me under his wings. I travelled with him for almost two years while he was working on Veer and Wanted, and worked out with him. He believed in me and that’s why I am here today,” Arjun told HT.
The 26-year-old son of filmmaker Boney Kapoor is all excited and pepped up about his foray in the industry with the much talked about film, Ishaqzaade, where he is paired opposite actor Parineeti Chopra. “I know there are huge expectations from me, but I am at ease with it. It’s like I am waiting for the exam, and I am confident about my preparation. Right now, my aim is to be a good actor. I want people to watch our film,” says Arjun

Shahid-Parineeti: B-town's new buddies!

NEW DELHI, April 30 -- I recently heard some news about Parineeti Chopra and Shahid Kapoor. Pari and Sasha, who are doing a film together for Yash Raj, have been bonding big time of late.
It seems that Pari is quite a reserved person otherwise, but with Sasha, she started chatting instantly. And the reason apparently is Shahid and Priyanka Chopra's alleged 'affair' or friendship at one point.
Knowing how close Shahid is to Pari's cousin, she decided to chat with him and aur kya? Now they have become buddies!

Karisma hurts her toe-nail!

NEW DELHI, April 30 -- Karisma Kapoor has just proved her dedication towards work for her upcoming supernatural thriller, Dangerous Ishhq. Karisma, while shooting for the film, tore her toe nail and it started bleeding profusely.
The doctor was called on sets immediately and Karisma's foot was bandaged. It's a known fact Lolo, who has been in the industry for over 20 years, gives her heart and soul while filming a movie.
For Dangerous Ishhq too, she wanted to finish the shoot the same day to not cause inconvenience to others, so she shot with a bandaged foot. Of course, care was taken to not show her bandaged foot on camera.

Salman helps Somy Ali’s charity foundation!

In Bollywood, he is known to be bighearted. So Salman Khan’s benevolent moves hardly come as a surprise. But the superstar — for some time now — has been helping his ex-girlfriend Somy Ali run her Florida-based non-profit-organisation, No More Tears (NMT).
The American foundation that rescues women from domestic abuse has been “struggling financially” for a while, and Somy is strictly reliant on private donors and government funding. “But the grants have not come through due to the state of the economy. Our country is struggling as a whole,” says Somy. So private donors are really pivotal for NMT’s sustainability at the moment.”
That’s where Salman enters the picture. Somy maintains that her ex-boyfriend and his friends “have done more than enough” for NMT.
Somy Ali
“It’s only due to their donations that we have sustained this far,” says the 35-year-old former actor. Apparently, Salman’s friends donated more than $1,50,000 to NMT last year.
“Some of his friends have contributed, but they choose to remain anonymous and I respect them for it,” confirms Somy. “Salman doesn’t owe me anything. The fact that he has encouraged his friends to donate is proof of his large heartedness. Personally, I would never ask him for help. Probably that’s why we have been friends for 20 years. We respect each other, but don’t expect anything in return.”
At the same time, Somy accepts that NMT, founded around four years ago, is “hanging by a thread.”
“Initially, I used $2,86,000 of my own money to fund my charity, but those funds have now depleted. So it is a daily struggle,” says Somy, who acted in films like Andolan (1995), Yaar Gaddar (1994), and Aao Pyar Karen (1994).
Ask Somy — who has rescued 182 victims since 2008 — if she intends to team up with Salman’s Being Human foundation, and she says: “No (plans) so far. Salman and my missions are different.” Lastly, does she watch Salman’s films? “No, I really do not get time to keep up with films due to NMT. Abuse has no days off and neither do I,” she says.

Sunidhi Chauhan gets married!

Sunidhi Chauhan gets married!

Anupama Chopra's review: Tezz

Film: Tezz
Direction: Priyadarshan
Actors: Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Boman Irani
Rating: **

Tezz is an unapologetic, unacknowledged copy of the 1975 Japanese film The Bullet Train. Director Priyadarshan and writer Robin Bhatt liberally lift the plot and entire sequences from the film. So here too, we have a bomb on a train that will blow up if the train slows down. But protagonists in Hindi cinema who indulge in criminal activities must be accessorised with a suitably tragic backstory. So the mastermind behind this heinous deed — Aakash, played by Ajay Devgn — is an illegal immigrant who is rudely evicted from the UK and separated from his pregnant wife. He joins hands with two other illegal immigrants and decides to teach the authorities a lesson!
Even if you can get past the foolishness of this premise, Tezz has little to offer. Once the situation is set up, all the characters start to snarl orders. So the head traffic controller, played with minimal finesse by Boman Irani, rages at his counterpart from the counter-terrorism unit, Arjun Khanna played by Anil Kapoor (yes, all the key jobs in the UK have been taken by Indians). To up the emotional stakes, the traffic controller’s daughter is on the train, but this narrative thread goes nowhere (in the second half, the film becomes the chase-for-Aakash and the train and its passengers are almost forgotten). Meanwhile, Aakash makes ransom demands but also finds time to mope about London reminiscing about his wife. There’s even an item number in a place called Desi Club, where London Indians gather to watch Mallika Sherawat shimmy about, surrounded by dancers dressed as vampires.
The best thing about Tezz is its length — mercifully short — and the action, choreographed by Gareth Milne (Bourne Identity, Bourne Ultimatum) and coordinated by Peter Pedrero.
There’s an interesting parkour-inspired chase sequence and even Sameera Reddy, playing one of Aakash’s helpers, gets to do some nifty moves on a motorbike. But, for a film with a speeding vehicle at its centre, Tezz is curiously inert. I felt most sorry for Mohanlal, one of our country’s finest actors, here doing a cameo as a cop on the train. At one point, he is straddled between two trains, helping passengers shift from the one with the bomb to one without, as both move at deathly speeds. Can Bollywood please offer him a better role?

Jaya-Rekha clash in Rajya Sabha has tongues wagging!

A sequel to the 1981 hit Silsila, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha, is in the making. The setting this time: Rajya Sabha. Soon after news of President Pratibha Patil approving the nomination of actor Rekha to the Upper House, cyberspace was flooded with jokes on the ‘love
triangle’ being carried forward to Parliament.
While Rekha is known to be actor Amitabh Bachchan’s ex-flame, the superstar’s wife, actor Jaya Bachchan is already a member of the Rajya Sabha. This announcement implies that the two ladies in Big B’s life will come face to face, just as they did onscreen in Silsila. Lyricist Javed Akhtar, who wrote the songs of the film, is also a Rajya Sabha member.
“The Prez has done what #amitabh couldn’t do- get #Rekha and #Jaya in same house ... #rajyasabha”,” wrote @gumraah.
“Silsila 2: #Rekha and #Jaya in the same House,” wrote Surajit Dasgupta. User Rakesh M Chaturvedi tweeted,
“#Rekha joins her bete noire Jaya Bachchan in the #RajyaSabha. Khoob jamegi jab mil baithenge diwane do :p Wonder what Amitabh is thinking”. Parth Kulkarni wrote,
“BigB to JayaB : “Kahan ja rahi ho? RS? Ruko, main chhod atta hu”#Rekha. @Deepa_xoxo wrote, “It’s been a while we haven’t seen B-Town Cat fights! Now that #JayaBand #Rekha in the same house, guess its time for some entertainment!”
Bollywood actor Rekha
However, the film fraternity stands divided on if Rekha and Jaya will be able to handle it. “Rekha and Jaya won’t be comfortable facing each other, because of Amitabh,” says industry expert Amod Mehra. Trade pundit Kumar Mohan, however, says, “Rekha is a woman of dignity. Our industry is very small and we stay here like a family. There won’t be any problem ... Whenever they meet, they’ll meet like colleagues and mature ladies.”
Do they make a difference?
Meanwhile, as the initial euphoria around cricket star Sachin Tendulkar being nominated to Rajya Sabha passes, many wonder if an active cricketer who is on the field for around 250 days a year will be able to do justice to his parliamentary duties. Former celeb members of the Rajya Sabha are known to have been mostly absent from the Upper House’s proceedings. India’s nightingale Lata Mangeshkar is believed to have not attended a single session ever since she became a member of the House in 1999(-2005).
Tendulkar, 39, will be the first cricketer to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha. On Thursday and Friday, a hash tag on Twitter, ‘#UnfollowSachin’ slammed the move. The Master Blaster, however, had supporters too. Shabana Azmi, a former Rajya Sabha member, tweeted, “Don’t forget Sachin had taken on d shiv sena and said that Maharashtra belongs to every Indian not just to Maharashtrians(sic).” Actor Gul Panag wrote, ‘I am ALL for Sachin for RS. Better than a retired 60+ sports person no?”

Reality better than dreams: Katrina Kaif

She was almost written off when she arrived in Bollywood. Nearly a decade later, with three Yash Raj projects, three reigning Khans as her co-stars and endorsements galore, actress Katrina Kaif says reality is far better than dreams. Katrina, 27, has teamed up with ex-boyfriend Salman Khan in Ek Tha Tiger, Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3 and Shah Rukh Khan for an untitled film -- all are being made under Yash Raj Films (YRF).
Not just that. Veteran director Yash Chopra is directing her film with Shah Rukh.
"Yashji undoubtedly is the king of romance and I have always admired the way he presents his heroines. It was always a dream to work with him and the reality is even better," Katrina, who was brought up in Britain and boasts of 28 Bollywood films, told IANS in an e-mail interview.
"He is very precise in his brief on what he expects from a scene and extremely perceptive. It has been amazing to work with him," she added.
YRF's untitled film is her first project with Shah Rukh. Katrina is bowled over by the superstar's energy.
"Shah Rukh is a thorough gentleman and it is a delight to work with him. I admire the sheer energy, hard work and passion that he puts into his work. It is also nice that my first film with him is a Yash Chopra film; they have done some great work together," she said.
If Katrina is getting into romantic mode with Shah Rukh, she will be doing a lot of action too with Aamir in Dhoom 3.
" Dhoom 3 is a concept film and the characters are required to look a certain way and do physically strenuous sequences. So there is a lot of physical training involved to prepare for the role," said Katrina.
Today she is counted among the top Bollywood actresses, but Katrina doesn't believe in the numbers game and tries not to let anyone down.
"I don't believe in numbers; the fact that I'm getting to work with the best people in the industry makes me feel blessed. With every project I get to learn so much that I can't thank all the people around enough," she said.
"Every day in this industry is an experience in itself and I try to work hard not to let anyone down. It is a great feeling, but it does come with responsibility towards your colleagues and the audiences," she added.
When Katrina entered Bollywood with the 2003 release Boom, trade pundits had predicted it was touch and go for her in tinsel town. But she has proved everyone wrong by giving hit after hit.
In a span of almost a decade, Katrina has given hits like Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya?, Welcome, Sarkar, Race, Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, Raajneeti and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
"I am very fortunate that I have been working with some very senior and experienced directors almost from the beginning of my career - Raj Kanwar, Abbas-Mustan, Raj Kumar Santoshi to name a few," said Katrina, whose recent Slice ad "Ab Ras Barsega" is out and she is looking her ravishing best in it.
"As for the directors, banners, actors and projects I am working with today, I have just gone about doing my work to the best of my abilities and in as professional a manner as possible," she added.

Ranbir Kapoor to romance Evelyn

The German-Indian model-turned-actor Evelyn Sharma, made her foray into Bollywood opposite actor Pratiek in director Manish Tiwari’s Issaq, which releases in the middle of this year. She will now be seen playing actor Ranbir Kapoor’s love interest in Ayan Mukherjee’s next, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (YJHD), which also stars Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur. Evelyn says, “The character I play is very girly and at the start of the movie, Ranbir falls in love with her.” She adds, “I can’t name them, but many actors auditioned for this part and they finally chose me.”
Evelyn has finished shooting a major part of the film by now. “It’s about how a hot girl comes into a guy’s life and he eventually starts taking interest in her. The role is quite interesting and we have song and dance sequences together as well,” she says.
Compared to YJHD, Evelyn has a more intense role in Issaq. Explaining her role in the movie, Evelyn says, “I play a foreigner who comes to Banaras for a visit. It’s like the desi version of Romeo and Juliet. My role is of Roasaline, Romeo’s first love, who breaks his heart. In Issaq my name is Rosa and she doesn’t endorse his (Prateik) ideas of love. Instead, she teaches him what love actually is.”
Ask her if she will be seen doing some bold scenes in either of the films, she says, “I have only one kissing scene with Prateik. But there are no intimate scenes with Ranbir.”
Her modelling career helped Evelyn get many film offers, but she chose to train herself before venturing into B-Town. She says, “I took proper training in acting for four months under director Rahul Rawail. In his academy, they also taught me how to read and write Hindi. I brushed up my diction, as I did not want someone else dubbing for me.” Currently, Evelyn is learning to dance. She will also be seen in From Sydney, With Love, for which she has finished shooting.

Ajay Devgn's Tezz gets mixed reviews

Priyadarshan's Tezz starring Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut and Sameera Reddy is loaded with an ingenious premise, thrilling moments and action. But, in spite of the short, 120-minute running time, the film seems longer because of the dips in the script, feel critics.
"Tezz is a good looking thriller filmed with expertise. Loaded with an ingenious premise, thrilling moments and action, Priyadarshan has curved it into a tremendously well-executed motion picture. The film's sole objective is to keep moving at a feverish pace, keeping the spectator completely immersed and entertained with the on-screen occurrences. Sure, there are some unwarranted moments [more on that later!], but the pacing is so breakneck and the cinematography so superior that it's easy to overlook the few unreasonable moments," writes Taran Adarsh.
On the flip side, the back story of Zayed and Sameera vis-à-vis their camaraderie and solidarity with Ajay could have been more persuasive and better elucidated for a stronger impact. Only then would the episodes involving Zayed and Sameera and what prompts them to risk their lives to support Ajay in implementing his plans appear compelling. Similarly, the portions involving Ajay and Kangna, towards the latter half, appear synthetic. The eagerness and zest of a couple uniting after five years is evidently amiss. Ditto for the final moments. The hand to hand combat scenes between Anil and Ajay adds value, but appear unwarranted and only stretch the narrative inanely. Besides, the visual effects could have been a wee bit superior," says Adarsh.
"In spite of the short, 120-minute running time, the film seems longer because of the dips in the script. Dialogues, by Aditya Dhar, needed to be more impactful," writes Mrigank Dhaniwala, Koimoi.com
"Without doubt, some of the chase sequences are gripping and well-executed but the sense of déjà vu always lingers. Only this time Bollywood faces are in the middle of the action. Kapoor and Devgn are very good. Khan looks out of touch and lost (PS: He acted in a film called Speed in 2007. It had nothing to do with the Keanu Reaves-starrer Speed Tezz is borrowed from. But was the remake of another Hollywood film altogether. Confused? It’s alright). Even the filmmakers thought Khan was so useless; they gave the good stunts to Reddy, who is equally dazed because she has a brother who’s on his way to going blind. Really now? As ex-employees why they agree to be part of Devgn’s plan is another discussion altogether. Then there’s South star Mohanlal, too, sadly reduced to a portly police officer waylaid on the ill-fated train. Kangana Ranaut has more of a cameo (thank heavens for small mercies). Sabu Cyril’s production design gives Tezz a slick look, but the script falters so much the pace stops mattering," writes Blessy Chettiar, DNA.
"Though lacking in novelty in terms of storyline, Tezz is filled with powerful moments. In fact, it leaves one spell-bound with some breathtaking scenes like how Boman Irani saves the head-on collision between the high-speed bomb stricken train and another coming from the opposite side. Also, Sameera Reddy’s dare-devil stunts keep ones at the edge of the seat. There is however, a flip side too as the screenplay looses threads post interval with some very unrealistic moments. Like how Anil Kapoor remains unhurt in a bomb explosion quite close to him," reports dailybhaskar.com.
"For a film that struggles and strives to look like a western product, its VFX is embarrassingly poor. When the train changes tracks, it looks like an Anaconda sliding past with the swish of a PowerPoint slideshow. When Inspector Menon pounces from the bridge between two trains to one of them, the agility of his pounce can trounce any crouching tiger. But the trophy for the most uninspiring VFX has to be the building explosion scene where investigator Himanshu Verma is ‘dragged and dropped’ out of the window like it were done using a computer mouse. Look closely around his collar, there has to be a cursor somewhere," writes Kunal Guha, Yahoo.
Direction
"Priyadarshan’s direction is found lacking in the dramatic scenes. Sajid-Wajid’s music is fine. Jalees Sherwani and Shabbir Ahmed’s lyrics are alright. Sandeep Chowta’s background score could have been better. Thiru S. Appun’s cinematography is functional. Sets, by Sabu Cyril, are fine. The visual effects are found lacking in several scenes. The editing is sharp," feels Dhaniwala.
"Priyadarshan yet again proves his prowess as director. He knits an intriguing plot especially first half. The film however, draws inspiration from Hollywood thriller Jan de Bont’s Speed starring Keanu Reeves. Many glaring loop-holes post interval leaves one in despair. Like, Anil Kapoor loses so many moments where he could gauge the face of Ajay but to continue with the suspense element, the track gets dragged," reports dailybhaskar.com.
Performances
"It's a treat watching Anil Kapoor on screen. Though the actor has been an integral part of so many movies in the past, you can never accuse him of repeating himself. Besides, he may be in his early 50s, but that hasn't deterred Anil from performing the high-octane action stunts with flourish. Ajay Devgn excels yet again. The actor has the perfect demeanor, attitude and physical appearance for the character he portrays. Also, those who felt that Ajay had cut down on action roles of late are in for a treat. Ajay's character has an emotional side, but it's the action portions, which he handles like a complete pro, that makes his character even more appealing," feels Adarsh.
"Kangna is an integral part of the film, but the screen time is limited. Nonetheless, her sequence with Anil towards the final moments catches your attention. Zayed doesn't get ample scope, but he's fantastic in the chase sequence towards the second hour. Sameera gets to do some daredevil stunts and also gets a couple of interesting sequences to leave a mark and she clutches the opportunity with both the hands. Mohanlal, an actor par excellence, gets minimal scope. Boman Irani is fantastic. One can easily rate it amongst his best works. Mallika Sherawat sizzles in the 'Laila' track," he adds.
"Ajay Devgan delivers a fine performance as Aakash. He is suitable restrained. Anil Kapoor, as Arjun Khanna, is superb. The performances of both these actors make the film palatable to a large extent. Kangna Ranaut, as Nikita, gets limited scope. She does an alright job. Zayed Khan, as Aadil, is okay. Sameera Reddy, as Megha, fits the bill. Boman Irani, as the railway traffic controller, is very good. Mohanlal, as police officer Shivan, does not add much value. Mallika Sherawat is alright in an item number," according to Dhaniwala.
Conclusion
"On the whole, Tezz is a taut, entertaining action spectacle. Those with an appetite for well-made thrillers should lap it up!" Adarsh concludes.
"On the whole, Tezz works in parts only, primarily due to the fast paced second half and the performances. It will face strong opposition from The Avengers over its first weekend at the box-office," says Dhaniwala.
"May be Priyadarshan should stick to mindless comedies, so we can be sure we’re in safe territory. You won’t be missing much if you skipped Tezz," concludes Chettiar.

IBNLiveMovies: #Tezz seems a bit stretched towards the end 29 seconds ago
IBNLiveMovies: Plot of the film could have been better. Action sequences save the day for #Tezz. Apart from the title track, music of the film is average 2 minutes
IBNLiveMovies: Kangna, Sameera and Zayed are good as supporting actors. Anil Kapoor will surprise you with his stunts. It is not Ajay's best for sure #Tezz 6
IBNLiveMovies: Typical Bollywood style ending for #Tezz. The action packed climax leaves a room for a sequel too...

Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana 2 to finally roll

Director Tarun Mansukhani has reportedly cracked the plot and finally Dostana 2 is set to roll in the middle of the year. The film is said to be far more naughty and wicked and John Abraham says he can't wait to get cosy with Abhishek Bachchan on the screen again.
"Yes, Tarun Mansukhani has finally got the plot in place. And we're all set. I maintain Abhishek is my best screen-jodi. And I can't wait to get cosy with him on screen," said John, who featured in the part one with Abhishek in Dostana.
The sequel to the successful 2008 comedy would be set in two continents and would play on the gay-versus-straight theme far more aggressively.
Not willing to divulge too many details, John let out, 'Dostana 2 would be set in London and Punjab."
The sequel won't go anywhere near beaches and bikini babes either.
"The Californian seaside setting of 'Dostana' took care of all the water-related activities. Dostana 2 would unfold on terra firma. No beaches and, sorry, no John in dangerously low-waist swimming trunks. The cracks, if any, would show elsewhere," said a source.
The idea this time is to turn the tables on the principal actors. John would appear fully clothed and Abhishek, we hear, just might be going bare-chested for the sequel.
"The sequel is going to be far more naughty and wicked. There'll be lots of sexual jokes, though Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani would make sure that the gay community would not get offended. Innocuous fun would still be the key," said another source.

Item songs have become the face of films: RGV

Director Ram Gopal Varma feels that though the item songs are intended to boost overall entertainment value, they have now become the face of contemporary films.
"The technical definition of item songs is that they are supposed to be an item and to give hype and additional bonus to a
film. But in today's times item song has become face of the film. But in Department the item song comes according to the situation," Varma told PTI.
RGV is all praise for the Brazilian-Indian model Nathalia Kaur whose sensuous number Dan Dan in Department is fast becoming a rage. However, more than the song, the director seems more impressed with Nathalia's sizzling performance and is promoting her.
"Right now the promotion is going on because of the item song that is on air. The idea of promoting Nathalia is to promote the song. No film is eventually made without the purpose of promoting certain actor. It is the marketing team that decides how to promote the film and all," he said.
Dan Dan song is the first song that I am promoting after Khallas and it is the second item song that I did. Like I said, item song has become face of the film. The promotion of the item number and that of Nathalia's go hand-in-hand, he said.
The much-hyped number from Department launching Nathalia is, however, not original. The song Dan Dan Dana Dan has been based on Aasai Nooru Vagai, the song featuring Rajinikanth in 1983 film Adutha Varisu.
"The song was the biggest hit of all times for Ranjinikanth. I have been a huge fan of him and the song. It is almost 30 years that the song came up. So we all thought if we could do something with the song it would be good. I believe ideas never grow old; it is just the packaging and presentation that gets updated with technology and times," the director said.

Salman Khan ignoring Arjun Kapoor?

Salman Khan might be the reason behind Arjun Kapoor's entry to Bollywood, but the actor recently refused to promote the newcomer's debut venture Ishaqzaade on Twitter, according to reports. “Arjun always wanted to become a director. Salman Khan kept observing Arjun on the sets of the 2009 hit Wanted, in which he was an assistant producer. Salman strongly felt that he saw an actor in Arjun Kapoor. He sat down with Arjun and said he shouldn’t waste more time learning direction and production, and should work towards becoming an actor,” says a source.
Arjun apparently had no inclination towards becoming an actor, but Salman’s confidence and motivation urged him to take that route. “Salman helped the boy lose weight and discover the actor within him. Then, he personally taught him and guided him. In fact, his diet, his exercise routine and everything was monitored by Khan himself,” adds the source. Arjun lost all the weight in three years before he started shooting for the film last year.
The 26-year-old son of filmmak+er Boney Kapoor is all excited and pepped up about his foray in the industry with the much talked about film, Ishaqzaade, where he is paired opposite actor Parineeti Chopra. “I know there are huge expectations from me, but I am at ease with it. It’s like I am waiting for the exam, and I am confident about my preparation. Right now, my aim is to be a good actor. I want people to watch our film,” says Arjun.

Shahid gets turned down by a girl

What would you do if Shahid Kapoor asked you for a dance? You'll say yes without thinking twice! That's what the actor would have thought when he approached a foreign chick to dance with him.
But to his surprise, she turned him down. After seeing his baby face, she said she doesn't dance with kids, reported Zoom.
Well, better luck next time Shahid!
Guess, stars are not in the actor's favour of late. He recently filed a complaint against Vastavikta Pandit, who happens to be the daughter of late actor Raj Kumar, for harassing him. He claims that when he leaves his house, Vastavikta often blocks his way and sits on his car's bonnet, repeating that she is his biggest fan.
On professional front, he will be seen romancing Priyanka Chopra once again in Kunal Kohli's Teri Meri Kahaani.

Sonam abuses followers on Twitter!

Sonam Kapoor believes in speaking her mind, even if it means using f*** word on Twitter. The actor recently shocked tweeple by abusing a couple of followers, when they doubted her acting skills.
It all started when some tweeple re-tweeted Anil Kapoor's interview that said - 'star kids have to struggle more'.
Retweeting the story, a follower said, "'cos they generally have no talent," to which Sonam replied, "f**** off"
"@sonamakapoor Ah cool! We don't mind abuses anyway as long as they don't come in the form of bad films you sometimes star in. :)," said @JayHind in reply to Sonam.
In the interview, Anil Kapoor had said that star kids have it tough in the film industry as there are lot of expectations from them.
Anil told First Post, “It is a different kind of struggle that they have to do. Our struggle was different. Their struggle is that the expectations from them are more as they are celebrity kids. I feel their struggle is more than us.”
“I feel Sonam has had a fantastic journey. She did a lot of hard work. It is a different kind of struggle that they have to do. If they do something good, people still expect more. There is certain expectation from her as she is the child of a celebrity,” he said in the interview.
“When she did Sawariya and Delhi 6 people started saying she should wear fashionable clothes, she is doing Behenji type of roles. She does not have that thing. So when she did Aisha they were like… do that kind (de-glamorised type) of a film. She has proved herself, from Sawariya till now,” Kapoor said.
“She has done de-glamorised roles in films like Mausam and others but people forget that and talk about her fashion. Fashion is also an art, you don’t have to look down upon it. It is a big business and there is more money in it than films,” Anil said.
“The way she chooses colours or pattern, there is a certain art in that, she has that sense inherently. You either have it or don’t. She is blessed with that talent, where she has great aesthetic sense, her grace, her beauty, the way she presents herself,” the proud father said.
